ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE JOE SEEMAN CALLS UPON GOV. HOCHUL TO IMMEDIATELY APPOINT TWO SPECIAL PROSECUTORS FOR ELDER ABUSE AND FRAUD
BALLSTON SPA, NY – Calling yesterday's investigative reporting in the Times Union, “Utterly shocking” Joe Seeman, candidate for the 112th AD, called upon the Governor to immediately appoint two special prosecutors, one to investigate full-time the apparent criminal elder abuse committed by Center Health Care, Centers Plan for Healthy Living, their CEO and top executives. The other, according to Seeman, to be charged with investigating how the health department continued to fund these apparently abusive organizations with our tax dollars.
Said Seeman, “it’s mind-boggling that even after serious and credible allegations of elder abuse, we continued to fund these for-profit corporations.” He continued saying “not only did the state allow these for-profit corporations to apparently prey upon our elders, but in fact the Health Department continued to pay them to abuse our parents. This is more of the same elder abuse and fraud we saw here at the privatized and now shuttered former Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa.” He noted that there is likely to be billions of dollars in lawsuits, and that tax paying New Yorkers will have to pay for the Health Department’s failure. Pledging to not vote for funding for any for-profit healthcare corporation, candidate Seeman said that healthcare and especially care for our elders will be a central part of his campaign.
